Probate:: how long does a widow have til she reads the will of her deceased spouse to his family?
The "reading of the will" is more of a mystery novel sort of thing. The concept makes good drama but does not exist in real life, at least not in Louisiana.

There is no time limit to open a succession. However, any "interested party" can open a succession and demand that any wills be filed for probate. At that point, the will would be available for you to read.

Real Estate Law:: Business Sales Taxes and Home
If it were property taxes, the answer would be a fast-track yes. Since you are talking about sales taxes, the state and local taxing authority can get judgments against you for the amounts and seize your home. Since these are trust funds, there are additional ways ways they can enforce collection.

In Louisiana, someone's house is not exempt from seizure by any creditor. So, the short answer is "yes".

Real Estate Law:: Private Property Law
There could be a servitude of access under the Louisiana Civil Code. Basically, property cannot be "landlocked" so that someone cannot access their own property. However, there are many exceptions and there may be a requirement to pay for the access. You would have to visit with a lawyer to see exactly what your situation entails.

General LA law:: Wife Debts
No one can tell you for sure if her debts are your responsibility from the information given.

In general terms, if there is a community (the default in Louisiana) then either or both spouses are responsible for all debts. There are many exceptions, however.

Family Law:: Can you please review this website?
My experience with one post visitors who just want you "to review" something are that they really are not the least bit interested in your review. they just want a link from a well-ranked site to their own.

Spam is spam. If I'm wrong, I welcome the poster to respond. Meanwhile, I'll take down the link.

Real Estate Law:: home owners assoc.
Typical homeowner's assoc. story:

I had a really nice guy pressure washing my house. While he was working, he asked if it was OK to put up a little yard sign so that if neighbors liked his work, they would know who to call. I said "sure."

While he was working, someone on the HOA board who was walking by told me I would have to take down the sign since it was against our restrictions to have any yard signs. I pretty much told him to kiss my *ss --the sign would come down when the sign came down.

He talked about legal recourse at which point I told him to go ahead and sue if he wanted to be a total jerk about it.

These people get a small taste of power and think they are Hitler born again. You always have to call them on their little power trips and they always back down.

Their most recent thing with me (a few weeks ago) was the subdivision restriction against satellite dishes. I asked them "Are you aware that the federal government has canceled all such restrictions and that it is illegal to interfere with anyone's ability to access satellite TV? Would you like to see how fast I can get the FCC to issue a restraining order against you folks? Do you want me to tell how much the fine against you will be?"

Family Law:: QUESTIONS, QUESTIONS
Alright; thanks.

I had custody of my grandson; that was changed in the court although I was privileged to have put in the papers that there be no smoking in his presence or in the home where he lived: there is smoking, both legal and not, and his asthma has not been treated in more than four years; has in fact been denied and the doctor called a quack. (There are also no scheduled appointments: he gets shots when the school demands, and had an ER visit when he cut his finger, but at no other time does he see a doctor)

Now I suppose I should ask this question:

Since I no longer have custody, and was quite firmly informed by the judge to stand down: Am I still considered a part of that decision (which would prevent me from talking to the judge directly) or am I not (and if I COULD talk to the judge directly, how would I go about it: personally, in writing, etc.)? And if I am, can I file that motion? And if I am not still considered part of the equation, would I still be able to file that motion?

And if I cannot speak with the judge OR file the motion, exactly what can I do to help him in this situation? I've tried OCS: they accused me of being a "vindictive grandmother" because I only "want custody back", so I know that is not an avenue that will benefit him.
