I have been working overseas for the past 6 years - my overall bring home is much more than now.  I have been married for 22 years and my wife has decided to move on - so I dont have a choice in this divorce.  Here are my questions:

1.  How do they determine if alimony should be paid and the amount?

2.  How to they determine child support payments?

3.  If we have two homes and they both are not paid off - she gets one - does she assume the notes?

Thanks

Alimony is no longer used. The new, PC phrase is "Spousal Support."

To get spousal support, the spouse seeking the support must be free from fault in the breakup of the marriage. Sounds like she would have a problem there.

She could still be entitled to temporary support pending a final divorce. That is not dependent on the fault issue.

Child support is based on tables that provide the support payments based on what both parents make and on how much time the child is physically in the custody of either parent.

The houses are subject to negotiation and agreement between the spouses. Generally, both spouses are liable for community debts and are entitled to their share of community net assets. So, it is advantageous to come to an agreement as to who gets what and as to who is responsible for which debts.
