my wifes employer made they sign a agreement to drop there hourly wages from 12.50 a hour to 11.47 a hour and added three hours to there work week so they went from 47 hours aweek to 50.is this legal

in this time of incredibly high unemployment it might be better to not make waves?

but anyone can be let go for any THING....Louisiana is an 'at will' employment state meaning you only have a job as long as they say you do and you can be let go for any reason, like the new carpet is blue, so you're fired.

having said that, if your wife is "non-exempt" or an hourly, non-management person, she must be paid at time and a half for anything over 40 hours. If she is management or 'exempt' then that doesn't apply. She wont' get overtime. On the other hand, she also wouldn't be getting paid by the hour. Exempt employees get paid salary.
