I think this law is dumb to an extent.
Everyone knows that the left lane is for faster moving cars and the right lane is for slower moving cars. You do have some people who will drive in the left lane @ 45 mph when the posted speed is 55 or 60 for long stretches. That's just stupid and they should move over to the right lane or get a ticket.

They say the left lane is for passing only. What happens if everyone obeyed the laws of the road and only drove in the right lane?
We would have one lane filled with cars and the people who constantly hit their brakes instead of their gas pedal backed up for miles with no one really getting anywhere.

Our interstate has three lanes going in one direction, if we only used the right lane we would have a messier traffic problem then we do now. I'm waiting on my ticket because I love driving the left lane.

relax... it is just there to move the lane blockers out of the way.

if you are not blocking traffic the cops are not going to mess with you.

Be careful when you are travelling, Nick. Many states actively enforce this law. If a cop sees you in the left lane and you are driving and not actively passing, you get a ticket.

If you get the ticket in North Carolina, you HAVE to get an attorney to handle it for you, or go back and go to court. There's no pleading or just paying the ticket.
