We have been asked by the LaDOTD to allow topographical surveying of our property by a third party surveyor. This is apparently in conjunction with a highway project. What are our rights as land owners to object? Address possible damages?
Note: We have been told there will be some cutting involved and likely vehicles in our yard. There has been no public hearing on the project. The plan we have requested and have been provided is preliminary but indicates the taking of some of our property will be required.
As I said in your other post, this is not an area I have any experience with. However, I can say that it is likely that if you object to the survey, then they could actually start the appropriation process.
Just a guess, but at this point they may be trying to determine whether expropriation is feasible.
